Kids, Teens, and Chiropractic: What Two 2026 Studies Found

October 28, 2026

Every parent wants care for their child that is gentle, thoughtful, and focused on what they truly need. Two new studies published in September 2026 provide a closer look at why families bring their children to the chiropractor and how parents view the experience.

WHY FAMILIES CHOOSE CHIROPRACTIC

Researchers in Australia and Canada analyzed visits from 605 young people, ages 17 and under, treated by 79 chiropractors. (1) Health maintenance was the most common reason for coming in in every age group, suggesting that many families view chiropractic as part of keeping their children healthy and on the move. Back problems were the most common issue chiropractors diagnosed, and teenagers made up nearly half of all visits. That makes sense: growing bodies, heavy backpacks, sports, and long hours at screens all place real demands on young spines.

FAMILIES FEEL HEARD AND VALUED

A second study tracked 671 parents before and after their child's course of chiropractic care. (2) Parents scored three aspects of their experience: communication, shared decision-making, and the care and respect shown by the chiropractor and office staff. On the whole, parents described favorable experiences across all three areas, and their satisfaction with care was positive. Put simply, families felt heard, included in decisions, and treated with kindness, and that matters a great deal when the patient is your child.
