Carrolltown Exercise Helps Cope with Pain and Aging

"If you don't keep going, you're gonna die." How’s that for a title to a paper?! Gormish Chiropractic & Rehabilitation was even startled a bit, but it is true. No matter your age, your pain, your life plan, we all have to keep going forward! This is so true for middle- to older-age Carrolltown back and neck pain sufferers. Luckily, Gormish Chiropractic & Rehabilitation is here for you.

ANTI-AGING EXERCISE BENEFITS

We all start looking for anti-aging benefits at that certain age! One group of researchers wrote that regular exercise has multi-system anti-aging effects and called for more research to gather knowledge of just how molecular mediators of exercise benefits function in older folks rather than just turning to pharmaceuticals. (1) Gormish Chiropractic & Rehabilitation enthusiastically agrees! Walking is amazing! This an important message for all Carrolltown pain sufferers!

BENEFICIAL DAILY EXERCISE STEPS

Walk each day with a goal of 7000 steps. Why? Research. 2,110 black and white men and women and their steps-per-day counts were studied. They wore an accelerometer from 2005 to 2006 and then were followed for a mean of 10.8 years. Their stats were analyzed in 2020 and 2021 to see what, if any, association was made between steps-per-day and all-mortality death risk. This study was a portion of the larger CARDIA (Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults) study. Steps-taken-per-day were defined as “low” (less than 7000), “moderate” (7000-9999) and “high” (more than 10,000). Stepping intensity – stepping rate – played a role, too. Moderate/high step rate was linked to a reduced risk of mortality in black and white women and men in middle-age who took 7000 steps or more a day compared with those who walked less. (2) Gormish Chiropractic & Rehabilitation witnesses how walking helps – 7000 steps or not – and encourages Carrolltown chiropractic patients to take walks as best they can. Any walk works!

EXERCISE HELPS COPING WITH PAIN

How do most Carrolltown back pain patients deal with chronic low back pain? Some of the things people may say or feel are these:

  • I feel helpless because nothing works.
  • I feel down and depressed.
  • I distantly wish for an end to it.
  • I accept the reality of my pain.
  • The pain stays, I keep going.

What about you? There’s no right or wrong answer. Gormish Chiropractic & Rehabilitation sees them all! Gormish Chiropractic & Rehabilitation is present to help. We meet each back pain patient – old or young, active or inactive – where each one is. We build a treatment plan together.
