August 2021 Healthy News from Gormish Chiropractic & Rehabilitation
Gormish Chiropractic & Rehabilitation welcomes all spine pain patients! We know the frustration that comes with spine pain. Carrolltown chiropractic spinal manipulation is beneficial for many. Though low back pain is a major cause of disability globally, its sufferers who experience recurrent or persistent bouts of low back pain realize that chiropractic maintenance care is effective as it is patient-centered care. (1) Neck pain sufferers, too, report benefit with chiropractic. Neck pain patients who undergo spinal manipulation – 90% of which is delivered by chiropractors in the US – had lowered risk by 2.38 times to need escalated and costly care like imaging, injection, emergency room or surgery (just 26%) than patients who were treated with other kinds of care (46%). (2) A new study of Medicare patient claims reports that patients who had reduced access to chiropractic care had a rise in visits (32.3 a year) to primary care physicians for spine pain and an increase in spine surgeries (5.5 a year) costing an extra $114,967 per 1000 Medicare beneficiaries and $391 million nationally. (3) Your Carrolltown chiropractor is well-skilled in delivering spinal manipulation. Spinal manipulation is and has been recommended as first-line treatment for low back pain. Medicare claims’ reviews note that chiropractors are the majority of healthcare providers for spinal manipulation and that the general supply of spinal manipulation providers is falling. (4) Have no fear! Your hometown, Carrolltown chiropractor does not intend to stop providing pain-relieving spinal manipulation, particularly the gentle, research-backed Cox® Technic style of spinal manipulation.

Beneficial B Vitamins
The benefits of B vitamins is undeniable. B12 deficiency is often linked with dementia in patients over 65 years of age. It has also been found in young people who have normal B12 levels but their methylmalonic acid (MMA) level is high. Testing the MMA level may be considered in patients with symptoms that seem unrelated as in one patient with neuropathy, depression and stomach issues who tested a high level of MMA. (5) Biotin (B7) supplementation is showing potential in the treatment of neuropathic pain and could lessen the required doses of analgesic drugs. (6) Riboflavin (B2) in foods and via supplements is known for its antioxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory effects among others. A recent study found that B2 to be anti-itch. (7) Are your B levels good? We’ll talk at your next visit!
